Provided in this invention is a process for producing cumene which primarily solves the problem of high n-propyl benzene content in the prior art. The problem is well solved by the process, which comprises: suitably distilling multi-substituted cumene to separate the component into a lighter stream and a heavier stream, controlling the content of diisopropylbenzene in the lighter stream at least more than 95 wt% and the content of triisopropylbenzene in the heavier stream at least more than 0.5 wt%, and respectively proceeding two streams to alkyl transfer reaction. The process can be used in the industrial manufacture of cumene.
