The present invention provides a film for a cutting tool or an abrasion resistant tool in which improved abrasion resistance and defect resistance required for the processing of steel when frequent welding occurs. To this end, the film for the cutting tool or the abrasion resistant tool of the invention is formed on the surface of a parent material through chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and includes one or more alumina layers, wherein the alumina layer is formed in an a phase and has a composite structure of a columnar crystal structure and an equiaxed crystal structure.
