<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of identifying various hand portions in contact with a surface so as to be used for recognizing various hand configurations and identifying various kinds of input operations. <P>SOLUTION: A method of tracking and identifying a touch portion of a hand in a series of proximate value images for supporting the interpretations of a configuration and an action of the hand is provided. The method includes the steps of dividing each of the proximate value images into electrode groups indicating significant proximate values and representing the proximate value of an identifiable portion of the hand or another touch device by each of the groups, extracting a total proximate value, a position, a shape, a size, a direction and one or more parameters comprised of a combination thereof from at least one electrode group, and tracking a group route passing through continued proximate value images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
