<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign substance detection device capable of improving detection capacity of foreign substances adhered on a circuit board coated with a transparent protection film. <P>SOLUTION: A foreign substance detection device 100 for a circuit board 20 on which a drip-proof film 23 is applied includes red LEDs 12, 13a-13d for irradiating a part of the circuit board 20 coated with the drip-proof film with red light, cameras 11a-11e for photographing an area of the circuit board 20 onto which the red light is irradiated, and a processing part 10 for measuring a brightness of reflected light from the circuit board 20 based on image data output from the cameras 11a-11e and detecting a foreign substance on the circuit board 20 depending on whether the reflected light brightness is beyond a prescribed threshold or not.
