Disclosed is a clamp (210) that includes a bolt (214), a spacer (218), a shank (116), an expander (112) and a blocking means (128). The bolt (214) includes a non-threaded undercut (242) that permits the bolt (214) to rotate in an internally threaded portion (243) of the spacer (218) without threaded engagement between the bolt (214) and the spacer (218). When used as a clamp, the spacer (218), shank (116), expander (112) and blocking means (128) cooperate to deform the expander (112) into a blind side flange (111) and to clamp a work piece (230) between the flange (111) and the spacer (218). To remove the clamp, the bolt (214) is moved away from the spacer (218) while rotating the bolt (214) in the expander (112) to bring the external threads (217) of the bolt (214) into threaded engagement with the internal threads (243) of the spacer (218). This permits the extraction of the bolt (214) from the blind side expander (112) by maintaining rotational restraint of the expander (112) with the spacer (218). |
