The method involves receiving transmission data (SM) of a model (6) to be controlled, and providing a controller (10) for a remote control (4) with an identification code (Cn), which coincides with identification codes (C1-C4) stored in the control. Model-specific control settings (SE1-SE4) stored in the remote control are activated, where the control settings are assigned to the identification codes. An output control setting (SEd) is activated after switching on the remote control. The output control setting and the control settings are stored in a remote-control-sided memory (12).
