1,167,544. Purifying nickel-titanium. W.J. BUEHLER. Sept. 28, 1966 [Oct.7, 1965], No. 31035/67. Divided out of 1, 167, 543. Heading C7D. Nickel-titanium alloy is purified by contacting the molten alloy under vacuum with carbon, e. g. by melting in a graphite crucible or by melting in any container and then adding carbon. Purification may be promoted by adding calcium or magnesium metal to the melt or by bubbling hydrogen through the melt. The treatment of alloys composed of Ni 50-70%/Ti remainder is specified.
|
