PURPOSE: A material feed speed measuring apparatus is provided to accurately measure the speed of a material drawn out from a rolling stand and maintain the rate of drawing the material, thereby preventing poor quality of the material. CONSTITUTION: A material feed speed measuring apparatus comprises a main body, a speed measuring part(250), a protection part(260), and a lifting part. The main body is provided on the exit side of a rolling stand as being arranged under a material drawn out from the rolling stand. The speed measuring part is installed in the main body and measures the speed of the material. The protection part covers up the speed measuring part. The lifting part moves up and down the main body. The lifting part comprises a rotary gear unit which is installed in the main body and rotated by the driving of a drive member(212) and a rack gear unit which is engaged with the rotary gear unit to guide the up and down movement of the rotary gear unit.
