<p>There is provided a method for producing carbon iron composite with a vertical carbonization furnace in which the oxidation reaction of a component in the carbon iron composite can be retarded to prevent a decrease in the strength of the carbon iron composite. In the case that a carbonization gas is blown into a vertical carbonization furnace for carbonizing a formed product of a carbon-containing substance and an iron-containing substance to produce carbon iron composite, the method for producing carbon iron composite includes using, as a circulating gas, at least part of a top exhaust gas discharged from a top portion of the carbonization furnace 5 to constitute part of the carbonization gas, mixing the circulating gas and a combustion gas produced by burning a fuel gas, and blowing the gas mixture into the vertical carbonization furnace as the carbonization gas while controlling the mixing ratio of the circulating gas to the combustion gas such that the composition of the gas mixture has a reducing atmosphere. Preferably, in the combustion of the fuel gas, air to be mixed with the fuel gas is preheated, and oxygen is enriched in air to be mixed with the fuel gas.</p> |
