<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide process release paper free from wrinkle due to abnormally high friction and excellent for solvent resistance at the time of coating a release agent, with good size/shape stability while preventing slippage between a rubber roll and process paper and preventing the decrease of a line speed. <P>SOLUTION: Process release paper comprises kaolin, styrene-butadiene based copolymer latex, polyvinyl alcohol, starch and a water proof agent on both sides of multilayer base paper, which is obtained by the steps of: coating a coating layer in a coating amount of 5 to 20 g/m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>per one side on both sides of the paper; and further coating a silicone thereon. The coating layer comprises 10 to 50 weight parts of a styrene-butadiene based copolymer latex having a glass transition temperature of 0°C or more on the basis of 100 weight parts of the kaolin.
