<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a battery from being weakened by the discharge current flowing to a controller and various electric devices while a construction machine has been stopped for idling during an operation. <P>SOLUTION: Upon determination of a controller 1 that a construction machine is stopped for idling, an engine controller 5 stops the engine as well as the alternator. When an operator moves away from his seat while leaving the engine being stopped for idling, a pressure switch 7 set at the reverse side of the seat is turned off. Turning off the pressure switch 7 causes the controller 1 to transmit an output signal Sg to switch a discharge-prevention relay 8 from the "a" contact side to the "b" contact side, and turns off a battery relay 4, shutting off an electric circuit from a battery 2 to the controller 1 and to electric devices 4.
