摘要 PURPOSE: A robot system and a control method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by emitting infrared rays only when a robot is located at a docking area. CONSTITUTION: A robot system comprises a charging stand(200) and a robot(100). The charging stand comprises an infrared ray detection unit and multiple ultrasonic oscillation units(220,230). When the infrared ray detection unit detects infrared rays, the ultrasonic oscillation units oscillate ultrasonic waves. The robot comprises an infrared ray emitting unit(170) and a ultrasonic wave detection unit(180). When the robot is located at a docking area, the operation of the infrared ray emitting unit is controlled. The ultrasonic wave detection unit detects the ultrasonic waves oscillated from the ultrasonic oscillation units. The robot is docked with the charging stand by measuring the arrival time of the detected ultrasonic waves and calculating a distance to the charging stand based on the measured arrival time.
