<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus in which a difference in peripheral light quantities of the short sides and the long sides on a rectangular imaging surface is unnoticeable in the image pickup apparatus including an image pickup element having a rectangular imaging surface, an image-forming optical system for forming an image on the imaging surface, and a prism located between the image-forming optical system and the image pickup element for bending an optical path. <P>SOLUTION: This image pickup apparatus includes a mask having a rectangular opening for restricting an incident luminous flux to an image pickup element. The slenderness ratio (the length of the long side/the length of the short side) A of the rectangular opening of the mask is defined larger than the slenderness ratio (the length of the long side/the length of the short side) B of a rectangular imaging surface of the image pickup element. The mask is disposed at such a position that the difference in the peripheral light quantities of the short sides and the long sides on the rectangular imaging surface of the image pickup element becomes smaller compared with a case where the slenderness ratio A of the mask opening is identical with the slenderness ratio B of the imaging surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
