<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmitter and a power receiver used in a power transmission system, capable of suppressing the decline of efficiency in transmitting power during power transmission and allowing the use of other functions at ease. <P>SOLUTION: The power transmitter includes: a first power transmission part 61 including a first backrest part 51 provided with a first passive electrode 11p and a first pedestal part 52 fixed to the first backrest part 51 at one end and provided with a first active electrode 11a; and a second power transmission part 62 including a second backrest part 53 provided with a second passive electrode 21p and a second pedestal part 54 fixed to the second backrest part 53 at one end and provided with a second active electrode 21a.
