The method involves considering a derived property of a rolled product in a context of a rolling model when deriving an expected rolling parameter. A deviation of the captured rolling parameter is deviated from the expected rolling parameter and adapted to the additional rolling model using the deviation of the captured rolling parameter from the expected rolling parameter. The deviation of a captured additional rolling parameter is determined from an additional corresponding expected rolling parameter, which is determined using the rolling model, for adapting the rolling model. An independent claim is also included for a control program for controlling a roller mill.
