The device (1) has a low pressure chamber (3) including a vertical rotational axis (6) that is arranged in an interior of the chamber. The axis supports a concentrically arranged rotary disk (8) that includes a sieve edge (9) with sieve openings (10) at an outer periphery of the rotary disk. An inlet arrangement (5) guides a liquid or pasty medium (2) to be degassed into the chamber. An outlet arrangement (14) discharges the degassed medium from the chamber.
