<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for freezing and storing cells, by which freezing and thawing injury is alleviated, a high survival rate and function are maintained even after thawing in freezing and storing pancreatic islet cells since, for example, a frozen and stored pancreatic islet is thawed and used in transplantation of pancreatic islet cells being a radical treatment for diabetes. <P>SOLUTION: Epigallocatechin gallate being a main component of green tea polyphenol is attached to pancreatic islet cells before freezing and storing. Concretely, pancreatic islet cells before freezing are cultured in an ordinary medium for cell culture (e.g. CMRL (Connaught Medical Research Laboratories) medium containing 10% fetal calf serum) containing 30-120ppm (μg/ml) epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
