PURPOSE: A DVD recorder and a cell unit editing method thereof are provided to display representative pictures of each cell during unit-based edition, thereby enabling a user to easily grasp content of a corresponding cell. CONSTITUTION: Video data to be stored are displayed on a display unit. A start point about at least one cell of the video data is inputted(74). The cell is stored(76). The cell and representative pictures of cells which belong to the video data are read from the video data. The read representative pictures are displayed on the display unit(82). The selected representative pictures are displayed in different girth colors from representative pictures which are not selected. The remaining cells except for cells corresponding to the selected representative pictures are stored as edited video data(88).
