The screwdriver has an evaluation unit (10) that evaluates a characteristic for a number of rotations of a screw jack (18) and/or a characteristic for a screw-in depth. A drill chuck (20) is attached to the screw jack and retains a bit holder with a screwdriver bit. A drill bit is inserted into the chuck. A touch screen (26) as an operating element is inserted into a housing (22) and connected with the evaluation unit, where the touch screen inputs and outputs operating parameters. A control switch (28) is attached to a handle (24) of the housing. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a power screwdriver.
