PURPOSE: A starch based hot melt adhesive composition is provided to have excellent adhesion and workability by comprising starch which is limitlessly recoverable starch, thereby having relatively more environment-friendly properties, and reducing manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: A starch based hot melt adhesive composition comprises 30-65 weight% of starch on the basis of the total weight of the composition, 20-150 parts by weight of thermoplastic polymer based on 100.0 parts by weight of starch, 25-125 parts by weight of a tackifier based on 100.0 parts by weight of starch, and a plasticizer. The thermoplastic polymer consists of one or more selected from ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, an acrylic acid copolymer, and an ethylene-methacrylic acid copolymer.
