CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize fail-safe during the abnormal drop of lubricating oil pressure without causing the behavior disturbance of a vehicle.

SOLUTION: Fail-safe processing is executed to suppress an engine speed to be not higher than a threshold value when lubricating oil pressure is lower than a threshold value and the engine speed is not lower than the threshold value, and a lowering rate of the engine speed right after starting the execution of the fail-safe processing is set to be greater as the engine speed is higher at starting the execution of the fail-safe processing. Such a configuration avoids the event that an internal combustion engine is completely stopped during the travel of the vehicle. Additionally, during the abnormal drop of the lubricating oil pressure, the engine speed is quickly lowered in a high revolution region to surely prevent the seizure of the internal combustion engine and the engine speed is gently lowered in a low-medium revolution region to inhibit the undershoot of the engine speed.
