A glass for hydrogen ion sensitive electrode burners consists of 50-60 mol per cent silica, 24-30 mol per cent lithia, 4-10 mol per cent titanium, an alkaline earth metal oxide, cerium oxide and an oxide of the lanthanide series other than cerium oxide. The alkaline earth metal oxide can be barium, calcium or strontium oxide and the alkaline earth metal oxide, the oxide of the lanthanide series and cerium oxide are preferably in the ratio 5À0: 2À0Œ0À5: 4À0Œ 0.5.
