The method involves performing a cognitive rating of potential and real hazards of traffic conditions to determine impact of the hazards using a probability-based method in which an object-oriented Bayesian network is used. A probabilistic interpretation of the traffic conditions is performed (S1). A probabilistic hypothesis estimation of base hypotheses is performed (S2) for estimating future trajectories of road users before crossing an intersection. A probabilistic hazard estimation of the hazards is performed (S3) for the road users moved relative to movement. An independent claim is also included for a method for assisting a driver during driving a vehicle.
