<p>Provided is an elevator that avoids interference with equipment in a machine room and wherein a speed regulator can be arranged such that a worker passageway and a maintenance space are secured. The elevator (1) comprises a hoistway (3) and the machine room (5) positioned in the upper part thereof. At least a hoist (13) and the speed regulator (15) are arranged inside the machine room. A speed regulator housing space (35) that opens to the upper surface of a machine room floor (17) is formed in the machine room floor which forms the bottom surface of the machine room. The speed regulator is arranged inside the speed regulator housing space such that the base section of the speed regulator is at a position lower than the upper surface (33) of the machine room floor.</p> |
