FIELD: medicine. ^ SUBSTANCE: what is offered is a flat-bottomed well applicable for purposes of a diagnostic technique for viruses. The well consists of a primary chamber and a secondary chamber. The primary chamber has a base, a liquid sample inlet and side walls extending from the inlet to the base of the chamber. The secondary chamber extends from the base of the primary chamber, and has a flat bottom. Thus the primary chamber has a square cross section, and the secondary chamber has a round cross section to decrease or eliminate a meniscus.
