PURPOSE: A composition containing Melia azedarach L. var. japonica Makino extract for hair and scalp care is provided to suppress conversion of testosterone into dehydrotestosterone. CONSTITUTION: A composition for hair and scalp care contains 0.5-20.0 wt% of plant extract isolated from Melia azedarach L. var. japonica Makino fruits. The composition is manufactured in the form of a shampoo, rinse, hair gel, hair mousse, hair spray, hair tonic, or hair pack. The solvent is ethanol, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, polyol, or purified water.
