摘要 Alkenyl aromatic halohydrocarbons are obtained by the dehydrogenation of the corresponding alkyl aromatic compound in the presence of steam and a dehydrogenation catalyst in which the temperature is gradually raised as the reactants pass through the catalyst by supplying indirect heat. The starting material may be ethylchlorobenzene, and suitable catalysts are ferric oxidepotassium oxide; magnesium oxide-ferric oxidepotassium carbonate, alumina-silica-nickel and ferric oxide-chromia-potassium oxide. 0.8-20 pounds of steam are added per pound of alkyl aromatic and the reaction temperature may be 500-700 DEG C.
