摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus able to reduce the capacity of the storage device of a charger, has low-cost performance, and high effect in energy saving. <P>SOLUTION: If capacity remaining in the secondary battery of the charger is not sufficient when the image forming apparatus is shifted to an energy saving mode, a CPU executes power supply control. When the energy saving mode starts at time t0, the charging voltage of the secondary battery is lower than a charging termination threshold value A, and the capacity remaining in the secondary battery is not sufficient. At the point that time has passed slightly from the time t0, the supply of power to low-priority ones among a plurality of loads in the image forming apparatus is stopped. When the power supply control is executed, power consumption is reduced, and power is supplied from the charger until the charging voltage of the secondary battery reaches a charging initiation threshold value B at time t1.
