The method involves acquiring ride-related and/or position-related data, time-related capture infotainment product information by the head unit, and storing the acquired data and product information in data storage device. The acquired data and product information are linked to create infotainment histories. The search is activated by motor vehicle user, by inputting travel, position or infotainment product as search parameter. The infotainment history corresponding to the search parameter is obtained. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) software program product comprising data carrier storing instructions for using ride-related and/or position-related histories for archived infotainment product; and (2) device for using ride-related and/or position-related histories for archived infotainment product.
