[Problem] To maintain the consistency of perspective between each object in an image when displayed with an ARIB standard caption (caption unit) superimposed thereupon. [Solution] Caption data for each caption unit are inserted in a caption data stream as caption text data (caption encoding) of a caption text data group. Data units (data unit parameter = 0x4F) for extended display control, which transmit display control information, are newly defined. For a PES stream of a caption text data group, parallax information is inserted in the data units that transmit display control information, and the parallax information is associated with the caption text data (caption text information). On the receiving side, the appropriate parallax can be applied to caption units superimposed on the left eye image and the right eye image.
