PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform transmission and reception by jointing 13-segment mode transmission channels.

SOLUTION: A transmitter transmits jointed transmission information including a field in which at least one of a plurality of transmission channels allows hierarchy transmission into three or more hierarchies and the type of modulation systems of each of the three or more hierarchies is identified and showing that a plurality of transmission channels are jointedly transmitted. A receiver receives the jointed transmission information transmitted by the transmitter. The present invention can apply to, for example, a transmitter which transmits a broadcasting signal of a terrestrial digital.
