摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking device and tracking method in which a subject can be tracked, even while the subject is moving at a speed less than or equal to a resolution of motion vector detection, without expanding the circuit scale. <P>SOLUTION: A tracking device includes an imaging device 13 which images a subject to capture a frame image, a first motion detection memory 41 and second motion detection memory 45 which define an image in a region set as a tracking target within the frame image as a reference image and store the reference image, a buffer memory 41 which stores a current frame image as an evaluation image, and a motion vector detection section 47 which detects the first motion of the subject on the basis of the reference image in a relation of adjacent frames with the evaluation image and detects the second motion of the subject on the basis of the reference image in a relation of discrete frames with the evaluation image.
