<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-film light diffusing element capable of achieving low backscattering properties and high haze. <P>SOLUTION: The light diffusing element comprises a first region which has a first refractive index n1, a refractive index modulation region which surrounds the first region and has a substantially spherical shell-like shape, and a second region which is located in the refractive index modulation region on the opposed side to the first region and has a second refractive index n2. The light diffusing element satisfies the following formulae (1) and (2): (1) 0.0006≤Δn/L; and (2) 10≤(Δn)<SP POS="POST">2</SP>×A×B≤100, where Δn represents the absolute value ¾n1 - n2¾ of the difference between the first refractive index n1 and the second refractive index n2, L (nm) represents an average thickness of the refractive index modulation region, the unit of Δn/L is (nm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>), A represents the number of parts by weight of a material constituting the first region relative to 100 parts by weight of the entire light-diffusing element, and B represents the number of parts by weight of a material constituting the second region relative to 100 parts by weight of the entire light-diffusing element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
