A heat exchanger 12, Fig. 1, has a return pipe 11 and a supply pipe 13 whilst a burner 16 supplied with gas through a spring-loaded waterdeficiency valve 18 is operated by a diaphragm 22 with low and high-pressure chambers 23, 24 which are connected across a restriction 52 in a parallel flow branch 51 that includes a thermally-responsive cut-off valve 53. In a modification, the chamber 23 is connected directly to pipes 11 or 13; alternatively, this chamber may open to the throat of a Venturi in pipe 13. The restriction may be arranged in series with the heat exchanger. In another form; the parallel flow branch leads from the throat of a Venturi in pipe 13 and is connected to the chamber 23 only, the other chamber 24 being connected directly to the pipe 13. The cut-off valve may be of the thermal type. |
