<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell drastically reduced in a start time by preheating cathode air to improve heating efficiency of a cell stack case. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell comprises a cell stack 2 composed by stacking a plurality of disc-like battery cells each comprising an anode and a cathode in a direction of its center axis, and the cell stack case 3 with them housed therein. The fuel cell is structured to heat the cell stack case by arranging a burner 5 under the cell stack case, and is characterized in that reformers 4 are arranged in the circumference of the cell stack case, and jackets 7 used as passages for cathode air are arranged around the reformers. It is desirable that the fuel cell is structured such that each jacket is composed of an upper passage, an intermediate passage and a lower passage; and the upper passage communicates with the lower passage through the intermediate passage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
