Polarising thin film electrode

A transparent thin-film electrode comprising a wire grid structure of metal 1 that polarises light transmitted therethrough. The transparent thin-film electrode may also comprise a film of a conductive polymer or a carbon nanotube, wherein the conductive polymer or carbon nanotube is provided in the gap between the metal wires 1. The transparent thin-film electrode can also be provided with at least one auxiliary electrode 2. The transparent thin-film electrode can be provided in a liquid crystal display or a light emitting device.
