PURPOSE: A communication device and an authentication method thereof are provided to offer an external attack through a relay by using communication devices which perform authentication. CONSTITUTION: An RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) reader(410) includes a transmission unit(411), an authentication unit(412), and a receiving unit(413). An RFID tag(420) includes a receiving unit(421), a message generating unit(422), and a transmission unit(423). The RFID reader transmits authentication request message for authenticating the RFID tag to the RFID tag through the transmission unit. The RFID tag receives the authentication request message through the receiving unit. The RFID tag generates authentication response message corresponding to the authentication request message which is received through the message generating unit. The authentication response message, which is generated through the transmission unit, is transmitted to the RFID reader. The RFID reader receives the authentication response message through the receiving unit.
