Tuck patterning is achieved on a four feeder circular machine by providing jacks 4 divided into three groups A, B, C, and each group having butts at two of three heights 17, 18, 19 the butts in each group of jacks running in a sequence of short, medium and long and followed by a jack devoid of a butt. The lower butts on each group of jacks are displaced relatively to those of the upper butts and when a group of jacks is completely devoid of butts this permits cam manipulation for the following butts. The cams are sliding cams 25, 35 grouped in a bank of three at two opposite feeds and are actuated by cam discs rotated by a ring gear driven from the machine. The cams are operated by bell cranks from the discs with intervening levers controlled from a control drum. Lower selector jacks 9 are also provided for patterning purposes. |
