[Objective] To maintain consistency of perspective between each object within an image in overlaying of captions (caption units) for the ARIB method. [Solution] In a caption data stream, caption data for each caption unit is inserted as caption text data (caption code) for a caption text data group. In addition, in the caption data stream, disparity information (disparity vectors) for each caption unit is inserted as caption management data (control codes) of the caption management data group. Associations have been made between the caption data and the disparity data, and therefore, at the receiving side, it is possible to impart suitable disparities to the caption units that have been superimposed upon the left-eye image and the right-eye image.
