An X-ray imaging apparatus and an X-ray imaging method that can acquire a differential phase image or a phase image of a subject by at least a single imaging operation are provided. The X-ray imaging apparatus according to the present invention includes a phase grating 130, an absorption grating 150, a detector 170, and an arithmetic unit 180. The arithmetic unit 180 executes a Fourier transform step of performing Fourier transform for an intensity distribution of a Moiré acquired by the detector, and acquiring a spatial frequency spectrum. Also, the arithmetic unit 180 executes a phase retrieval step of separating a spectrum corresponding to a carrier frequency from a spatial frequency spectrum acquired in the Fourier transform step, performing inverse Fourier transform for the separated spectrum, and acquiring a differential phase image. |
