1,030,325. Making screws. SMERALOVY ZAVODY NARODNI PODNIK. Sept. 9, 1963 [Sept. 10, 1962], No. 35462/63. Heading B3H. A horizontal multi-stage press, particularly for making screws and solts by hot or cold pressing and upsetting, has a plurality of tools 22 arranged in a vertical plane and means 6 are provided for transferring workpieces from top to bottom between successive tools. The press has a ram 14 carrying punches 22 which cooperate with dies 15, Fig. 2 (not shown), in the press frame 4, and actuated through pitman 58 by a crank-shaft 10 driven through gearing 57 by an electric motor. Wire stock 1 is fed to a cut-off die 3 by intermittently rotating rollers 2 driven through adjustable linkage 48, 49, 50, Fig. 4 (not shown), by an eccentric 39 on the crank-shaft 10. The stock is severed by a knife 5 driven from the press ram 14 through linkage 23, 24, which transfers the workpiece to the uppermost of four transfer chucks 6 mounted on a vertically reciprocable plate 7 driven through cranks 60, pinions 61, bracket 11 and linkage 8 by a cam 9 on the crank-shaft 10. The plate 7 can be rocked about the axis of link 8 to give access to the chucks. An ejector pin 37 for each die 15 is actuated through adjustable linkage 31-36 from the press ram 14. Mechanism for trimming the screw heads is also driven through adjustable linkage from the eccentric 39. |
