PURPOSE: A file system of hierarchical structure and method thereof are provided to separate a storage space into directory units by creating a horizontal virtual directory structure. CONSTITUTION: A virtual path creation unit(210) creates a virtual path for a hierarchical directory structure. A hashing value calculation unit(220) calculates a hash value by hashing the virtual path. A creation unit(230) creates a virtual directory stored in a file, a name directory stored in the hierarchical structure of the directory, a storage space of a horizontal structure including the hashing value as an identifier. The virtual path creation unit creates the virtual path by using the directory.
