The invention relates to an installation and method for testing materials to thermal shock by rapidly heating and cooling a sample. The claimed installation comprises a heating system (A) comprising a vertical oven (1) ensuring the heating of a sample (2) at a maximal temperature of 1700°C through an intake hole provided at the bottom part of the oven (1) which is also provided with two holes for a thermocouple (4) for controlling and measuring the temperature of the oven (1) and for a thermocouple (5) for controlling the heating of the oven (1) and a fourth hole for viewing and measuring the temperature on the surface of the sample (2) by means of a pyrometer (6), if the sample (2) is provided with a holding system (C) and some systems (B and D) for moving the sample (2) on the vertical and in the cooling area, whereto there is mounted a gas cooling system (E) consisting of a compressor (21), some air filters (22 and 23), an electromagnetically-driven valve (24), some temperature, pressure and flow rate transducers (25, 26 and 27), respectively, some cooling nozzles (28) provided with a pivoting clamp (30) for adjusting the position of the nozzles (28) and a control system (G) which in its turn consists of a system for acquiring data from the thermocouples (4 and 5), pyrometers (6, 15 and 16), some controllers of some robot arms (7, 10 and 20) composing the systems (C, D and E) for holding and moving the sample (2), and from transducers (25, 26 and 27), and a control system. |
