PURPOSE: A method for providing relevant event information using a selected text on an image display device and an image display device thereof are provided to offer event information related to an interested character string while using a network service on the image display device. CONSTITUTION: An image display device executes a text based program(S11). The image display device determines an input of a selected character string in the program(S12). The image display device extracts information related to the character string(S13). The image display device searches an event result for the event related to the information(S14). The image display device offers the searched event result(S15).
