<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element capable of letting even normal incident light excite surface plasmon without using a prism or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A photoelectric conversion element which uses surface plasmon includes: a plate-like light receiving part 1 made of metal which is provided on the outermost surface of the photoelectric conversion element, which has the front and rear faces, and which receives incident light on the front face; a groove-like slit 3 provided on the front face of the light receiving part; and a voltage detecting part 4 for measuring electric potential of the front face of the light receiving part. The slit lets the incident light excite the surface plasmon and the surface potential of the light receiving part generated by the surface plasmon is measured at the voltage detecting part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
