The method involves determining current driving conditions of a vehicle and a traffic object, and imaging the conditions in an environment model. A criticality of the conditions of the vehicle and/or a criticality of future driving conditions of the vehicle are determined based on the imaged driving conditions. A visual warning is displayed on a display unit (4) of the vehicle based on the criticality. The driving conditions of the object are determined based on data transmitted from a traffic infrastructure, another traffic object and/or sensors of the vehicle and/or stored data. The traffic object is a pedestrian, a cyclist or a stationary obstacle e.g. building site. An independent claim is also included for a device for displaying criticality of current and/or future driving conditions of a vehicle.
