The present invention provides an access point and a method for securely connecting a wireless station (STA) to the access point. The method includes the following steps: in a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) connection procedure, the access point (AP) starts the WPS connection and then begins timing, moreover, the WPS connection is not performed within the timing duration; after said timing duration expires, if detecting two or more STAs starting the WPS connection within said timing duration, said AP ends the current WPS connection procedure. Compared with the prior art, the present invention can prevent invalid users from accessing, via published WPS protocols, the access points which start the WPS connection procedures, and ensure secure connections of wireless networks.
