A method for producing an elasticated chassis web for use as a continuous and coherent layer in a disposable pant garment, comprising the steps of attaching two continuous elongated leg elastic elements along curvilinear paths to a continuous base web as the base web is moved in a machine direction, (MD), and forming leg openings in the base web while in the same operation cutting out and completely removing pieces of the base web together with parts of the leg elastic elements extending across segments of the base web intended to form part of a crotch portion in the disposable pant garment. The invention also relates to a pant garment (100) having front and rear waist edges (175,176) and leg edges (127), a front body portion (107), a rear body portion (108) and a crotch portion (109) between the front and rear body portions (107, 108) and comprising a coherent chassis layer (101) extending continuously from the front waist edge (175) to the rear waist edge (176) and having elastic elements (110, 111) attached along the leg edges (127). The front body portion (107) and the rear body portion (108) are connected in the crotch portion (109) by a strip (126) of the chassis layer (101) having a smaller maximum width than a minimum width of the crotch portion (109).
