The present invention relates to a method for predicting the risk and/or recurrence of a heart attack, including the steps of: selecting at least one electrocardiogram (ECG) wave; segmenting said wave; parameterizing said wave selected from the electrocardiogram into a plurality of parameters; selecting parameters and calculating the values thereof for two groups of people that are at risk and not at risk, respectively, wherein the first three steps are used on each electrocardiogram of said persons, and the values of one or more parameters representing one of the groups, respectively, are determined; selecting at least one of said values for a given patient; and using the first three steps on at least one wave of the electrocardiogram thereof, obtaining at least one selected value, referred to as the patient value, and comparing the patient value with all the values obtained for each person from the two groups so as to determine the group to which said patient belongs. The present invention also relates to a device for implementing such a method.
