The invention relates to a structural or chassis part of a motor vehicle, wherein the structural or chassis part consists of a composite material having an outer metal layer, a middle plastic layer or foamed plastic layer, and an outer fibre-reinforced plastic layer. The aim of providing a structural or chassis part which allows further weight savings without worsening properties with respect to load-bearing capacity is achieved in that the thickness of the middle plastic layer is at least 0.2 mm.
